NDA Senior Places First in Secretary of State Essay Contest

Congratulations to NDA senior, Megan Beischel on her First Place win in the Secretary of State’s 24th Annual Essay Contest. Megan wrote a 600 word essay on the question of whether or not there should be a mandatory voting law for American voters in the competition. Megan wrote the essay for her Honors Government class last semester taught by Mr. Greife. For extra credit in the class, she submitted her essay to the contest along with many other NDA students.

The essay contest was an excellent opportunity for students to engage in our democratic process and expand the civic awareness of students who are about to be eligible to vote and to highlight the importance of this essential element of our democratic society. As the First Place winner for the senior grade level, Megan won a $2000 savings bond. Congratulations Megan!
