NDA 2019 Leadership Summit

Last week, 18 Pandas completed Notre Dame Academy’s fifth annual Leadership Summit hosted by 1981 graduate, Sue Wehrman, who currently serves as the Global Supply Chain Development Leader with General Electric Power Division. Ms. Wehrman engaged many other community members in an effort to support our young, female leaders, and NDA thanks the following individuals for their help in making this year’s Summit a huge success:

Mary Jill Hugan ’80 (Hugan Law, LLC)
Dan Joyner (Novak Consulting Group)
Mara Palcisco (General Electric)
Lauren Tubesing and Malissa Gallini (General Electric)
Denise Bowman (Notre Dame Academy)
Colleen Haws (Grandview Tavern)

Ms. Wehrman and the above facilitators challenged the students to grow as reflective, goal oriented, communicative and confident leaders who can successfully lead, motivate and influence their teams, committees and clubs. One student attendee recognizes that “it doesn’t just take strength and firmness to lead, you also need the ability to connect and be empathetic with others. I will also take away to concept of strong team bonding and connections because every leader has a team.”

Ms. Wehrman says the students who attended the Leadership Summit “brought plenty of enthusiasm and energy. As we walked through the week, the girls were introduced to the soft skills of leadership, such as vulnerability, empathy and trust as well as some hard skills, such as facilitation, how to run a successful meeting, idea sourcing, down selecting and leadership styles.  I am continually impressed with the young women at Notre Dame Academy and their open minded thirst for learning.”
