NDA Names 2018 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Notre Dame Academy is proud to announce the Class of 2018 valedictorian, Emily Farmer, and salutatorian, Lauren Judy. In making the announcement, NDA Principal Jack VonHandorf commented, “These young women have excelled in their high school careers and this recognition is a sign of their ongoing commitment to academic excellence.”

Emily Farmer has earned the title of valedictorian for the Class of 2018. In addition to her academic success at NDA, Emily has been very active in various clubs and organizations. During her four years at NDA, Emily was inducted into the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and Rho Kappa. She has been involved in NDA’s Life Club, Math Club, Sign Language Club and served as the co-president of Disney Club for two years. She was awarded the Sr. Mary Agnetis Scholarship two years in a row and the University of Notre Dame Book Award. She has received First Honors throughout all four years at NDA. Emily made a difference in the lives of others as a peer tutor and working at Redwood with mentally disabled adults the last four years. She is the daughter of David and Laura Farmer. Emily will be attending the University of Cincinnati next year where she will be studying Aerospace Engineering.

Lauren Judy is this year’s salutatorian. For the past four years at Notre Dame Academy, Lauren has been very active both in her academic pursuits and her co-curricular clubs and activities. While at NDA, Lauren was inducted into the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and Rho Kappa.Lauren is a 2017 Kentucky Governor’s Scholar. She attended the Governor’s Scholars Program at Murray State University with a focus area in Spanish Language and Culture. Lauren has served as a member of NDA’s Student Council as a homeroom representative and has also been very involved with NDA’s Drug Free Club. She has also participated in Investment Club, Spanish Club and Math Club.  Lauren’s most memorable volunteer positions have been: the Notre Dame Urban Education Center for the past three years, St. Elizabeth ER and Madonna Manor junior year and Newport Primary School this past year.  Lauren has received many awards during her four years at NDA however, her two favorite awards have been the Sister Mary Rita Goeppinger Sophomore Service Award and the Civic Leadership Award. Her parents are Chris and Teri (Plummer ’87) Judy. Lauren will be attending the University of Kentucky this fall, and plans to major in Engineering with a minor in Spanish.
