Summer Enrichment Programs

High School Summer Studio Art 2017
  • Forms and payment are due by Friday, May 26
  • Class runs Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • Any scheduling conflicts (vacation, camps, sports camps) can easily be worked out if I am notified prior to the class.

  • If AP students, future AP students, and students interested in applying for Governor School for the Arts take the summer course, their assignments will be individualized.
WEEK 1: 2D OR NOT 2D July 17 – July 21
Week 1 takes a basic look at some 2D techniques. We will be learning a series of dry medium and drawing techniques. Mediums may include pencil, colored pencil, oil pastels, chalk pastels, charcoal. Other concepts covered will include alternate surfaces and alternate sizes ranging in the very small, to large, to organic shaped surfaces.

WEEK 2: Design July 24 - July 28
Week 2 get us into a variety of design techniques. We will move from use of reference photos and more our way into the abstract focusing on ideas of composition, basic color theory, creating  depth, and looking at artists that create abstract works as well as Op Art (optical illusion) works.

WEEK 3: Old Clothes Week (Painting) July 31 - August 4 
Week 3 will get us experimenting with paint. New students will be using Acrylic Paint while more advanced students will get a chance to use either Acrylics or Water Soluble Oil Paint. We will cover different styles of painting, (Realism, Abstract, Non-Objective, Minimalist, Graffiti, Color Blocking etc.). Artists that will be looked at will be Chuck Close, Kevin Muente (local painter), Picasso, Rothko, Motherwell, Andy Eckerle (BROTHER and local artist), street artist Banksy, and countless others

WEEK 4: Mixed Media Week August 7 - August 11
This week we will be taking a more Contemporary look at Art. We will be learning how to make Art out of anything and everything. Nothing is safe from possibly being adhered on, nailed to, drawn with, or painted over. We will be working with mixed media, some sculpture, and also how to integrate the two. A mess will be made, a different type of Art will be created, but fun will be had. Artists that we will look at will be Louise Nevelson, Jasper Johns, and Robert Rauschenberg.

NDA's Co-Ed Junior High Art Camp 2017

This summer we will be focusing on digital photography. We will be looking at work from a number of different artists including Shepard Fairey, Andy Warhol, Isabel Martinez, Christoffer Relander, and others to create interesting and dynamic digital works of art, while utilizing some of the basic tools and techniques in digital photo editing. If you are interested in seeing just some of the things we may get into, check out the website below.

Who: Any current 6th, 7th, and 8th Grader

What: Students will:
- learn a basic intro to Photoshop
- be introduced to a variety of artists 
- learn how to  create pieces using photos and other digital references
- NEED an image on a flash drive that they would want to use. (face, object, place)

When: Session A: July 17 – July 20, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. (Limit 20 students)
Session B: July 24 - July 27, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. (Limit 20 students)

Where: The Art Studio at Notre Dame Academy

Cost: $75 per student

This is the perfect opportunity for any student who has ever had a desire to learn to play an instrument. It is an awesome endeavor to learn a wind instrument and play with the NDA/CCH Band! Students learning a second instrument are also welcome to attend. We have a number of instruments on which students can learn to play.

Who: Grades 8-12 (for Fall 2017)
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays in June and July, 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.    
Where: The Band Room at Notre Dame Academy
Cost: FREE


The NDA/CCH Band will be rehearsing in the evenings on random dates this summer. The first rehearsal is scheduled the evening of Monday, June 19. We are looking forward to welcoming the upcoming freshmen musicians to the NDA/CCH Band!

NDA/CCH Marching Band Camp will be held the first week of  August.

Private Lessons
NDA teacher and band director, Mr. Greg Cerimele, is also available to teach private guitar or band instrument lessons on Tuesdays OR Thursdays at NDA this summer.

Summer Theatre Camp 2017

We are planning an exciting week working on a showcase of musical theater songs! During the week, students will rehearse songs, dances and scenes from a couple different musicals. We will also play improv games, construct props, and make new friends throughout the week. And all this ends with an exciting performance on Friday evening. We hope to see you there! 

For students in grades 2-8 in Fall 2017

Our public Showcase performance will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21. Free to the public!

- Notre Dame Academy's Bridge Program for incoming freshmen assists students in gaining math, English and study skills before the start of the school year.
