Summer Enrichment Programs

ART   High School Summer Studio Art 2018sun

  • Forms and payment are due by Friday, June 1st
  • Class runs Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • Any scheduling conflicts (vacation, camps, sports camps) can easily be worked out if I am notified prior to the class.

  • If AP students, future AP students, and students interested in applying for Governor School for the Arts take the summer course, their assignments will be individualized.
WEEK 1: 2D OR NOT 2D July 9th – July 13th
Week 1 takes a basic look at some 2D techniques. We will be learning a series of dry medium and drawing techniques. Mediums may include pencil, colored pencil, oil pastels, chalk pastels, charcoal. Other concepts covered will include alternate surfaces and alternate sizes ranging in the very small, to large, to organic shaped surfaces. We will also be studying Op Art works by artists such as Sol Lewitt and Kristin Farr.

WEEK 2: 3D Week July 16th - July 20th
Week 2 gets us into working 3D. Students will be working on sculpture projects using any material that they can get their hands on but mainly wire, wood, plaster, plaster molds, cardboard and clay.

WEEK 3: Old Clothes Week (Painting) July 23rd - July 27th
Week 3 will get us experimenting with paint. New students will be using Acrylic Paint while more advanced students will get a chance to use either Acrylics, Water Soluble Oil Paint or spray paint. We will cover different styles of painting and study artists such as Chuck Close, Kevin Muente, Joshua Miels, Kristin Farr, Andy Eckerle, Odili Donald Odita, Banksy, and more.

WEEK 4: Mixed Media Week July 30th - August 3rd

This week we will be taking a more Contemporary look at Art. We will be learning how to make Art out of anything and everything. Nothing is safe from possibly being adhered on, nailed to, drawn with, or painted over. We will be working with mixed media, some sculpture, and also how to integrate the two. A mess will be made, a different type of Art will be created, but fun will be had. Artists that we will look at will be Louise Nevelson, Jasper Johns, and Robert Rauschenberg.

ART  Junior High Summer Studio Art Class 2018: Portrait in Words

This year, the project that students will make is called ‘Portrait in Words’. Students will choose a person to create a portrait of and they will be instructed on how to create a portrait using words that are connected to that particular person. (EX: favorite musician / lyrics)

Who: Any current 6th, 7th, and 8th Grader (Limit 25 students per session)
What: Students will learn:
1) Process of drawing using the gridding process 
2) values of color and how to create different values using paint 
3) to incorporate concept within their work as they combine words and imagery
Session A: The week of Monday July 9th – Thursday July 12th, 6pm - 8pm 
Session B: The week of Monday, July 23rd – Thursday, July 26th, 6pm – 8pm
Where: The Art Studio at Notre Dame Academy
Cost: $75 per student. Payment includes instruction, studio costs, canvas, paint, and a t-shirt.
ADDITIONAL: Prior to class, please email Mr. Eckerle a picture of the person who is going to be painted so that the reference image can be properly set up before the class starts. IF INTERESTED, PLEASE FILL OUT FORM AND RETURN FORM AND PAYMENT TO NOTRE DAME ACADEMY BY FRIDAY, June 1st. 
2018 Junior High Registration Form and Information

This is the perfect opportunity for any student who has ever had a desire to learn to play an instrument. It is an awesome endeavor to learn a wind instrument and play with the NDA/CCH Band! Students learning a second instrument are also welcome to attend. We have a number of instruments on which students can learn to play.

Who: Grades 7-12 
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays in June and July, 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.    
Where: The Band Room at Notre Dame Academy
Cost: FREE


The NDA/CCH Band will be rehearsing in the evenings on random dates this summer. The first rehearsal is scheduled the evening of June 24th. We are looking forward to welcoming the upcoming freshmen musicians to the NDA/CCH Band!

NDA/CCH Marching Band Camp will be held the week of July 29th at school.

Private Lessons
NDA teacher and band director, Mr. Greg Cerimele, is also available to teach private guitar or band instrument lessons on Tuesdays OR Thursdays at NDA this summer.

Summer Theatre Camp 2018

We are planning an exciting week working on a showcase of musical theater songs! During the week, students will rehearse songs, dances and scenes from a couple different musicals. We will also play improv games, construct props, and make new friends throughout the week. And all this ends with an exciting performance on Friday evening. We hope to see you there! 

For students in grades 2-8 in Fall 2018
July 16th - 20th
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (M-F)
Where: NDA Theater
Cost: $120.00 (includes T-shirt)

Our public Showcase performance will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20th. Free to the public!

- Notre Dame Academy's Bridge Program for incoming freshmen assists students in gaining math, English, Science and study skills before the start of the school year.
