Summer Enrichment Programs

  • If AP students, future AP students, and students interested in applying for Governor School for the Arts take the summer course, their assignments will be individualized.
WEEK 1: 2D OR NOT 2D July 8th – July 12th

Week 1 takes a basic look at some 2D techniques. We will be learning a series of dry medium and drawing techniques. Mediums may include pencil, colored pencil, oil pastels, chalk pastels, and charcoal. Other concepts covered will include alternate surfaces and alternate sizes ranging from the very small, to large, to organic shaped surfaces. We will also be studying Op Art works by artists such as Sol Lewitt and Kristin Farr.

WEEK 2: 3D July 15th – July 19th
Week 2 get us into working 3D. Students will be working on sculpture projects using any material that they can get their hands on but mainly wire, wood, plaster, plaster molds, cardboard and clay.

WEEK 3: Old Clothes Week (Painting) July 22nd – July 26th
Week 3 will get us experimenting with paint. New students will be using Acrylic Paint while more advanced students will get a chance to use either Acrylics, Water Soluble Oil Paint or spray paint. We will cover different styles of painting and study artists such as Chuck Close, Kevin Muente, Joshua Miels, Kristin Farr, Andy Eckerle , Odili Donald Odita, Banksy, and more.

WEEK 4: Mixed Media Week July 29th – August 2nd

This week we will be taking a more contemporary look at Art. We will be learning how to make Art out of anything and everything. Nothing is safe from possibly being adhered to, nailed on, drawn with, or painted over. We will be working with mixed media, some sculpture, and also how to integrate the two. A mess will be made, a different type of Art will be created, but fun will be had. Artists that we will look at will be Louise Nevelson, Jasper Johns, and Robert Rauschenberg.

ART  Junior High Summer Studio Art Class 2019: Screen Printing

This year, the technique that we will be going over is Screen printing. Students will use a photo and a hand drawn design to work from. Students will have the opportunity to print on paper but may also bring in their own materials to print on (fabric, wood, plexiglass.)

Who: Any current 6th, 7th, and 8th Grader (Limit 25 students per session)
What: Students will learn:
1) Different Artists known for Screen printing
2) The process of Screen printing work from photos and original drawings
Session A: The week of Monday July 8th – Thursday July 11th, 6pm - 8pm 
Session B: The week of Monday, July 15rd – Thursday, July 18th, 6pm – 8pm
Where: The Art Studio at Notre Dame Academy
Cost: $80 per student. Payment includes instruction, studio costs, 2 screens, monofilament, squeegees, ink, paper, and t-shirt.
2019 Junior High Summer Studio Art Class Form

This is the perfect opportunity for any student who has ever had a desire to learn to play an instrument. It is an awesome endeavor to learn a wind instrument and play with the NDA/CCH Band! Students learning a second instrument are also welcome to attend. We have a number of instruments on which students can learn to play.

Who: Grades 7-12 
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays in June and July, 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.    
Where: The Band Room at Notre Dame Academy
Cost: FREE


The NDA/CCH Band will be rehearsing in the evenings on random dates this summer. The first rehearsal is scheduled the evening of June 19th. We are looking forward to welcoming the upcoming freshmen musicians to the NDA/CCH Band!

NDA/CCH Marching Band Camp will be held the week of July 28 - August 2 in the evenings at NDA.

Private Lessons
NDA teacher and band director, Mr. Greg Cerimele, is also available to teach private band instrument lessons on Tuesdays OR Thursdays at NDA this summer.

- Notre Dame Academy's Bridge Program for incoming freshmen assists students in gaining math, English, Science and study skills before the start of the school year.
