Congratulations to NDA’s Student of the Month

In her final year at Notre Dame Academy, senior Emily Bautista has been named September’s Student of the Month.  Representing her homeroom on Student Council this year, Emily is a go-getter and committed to academic excellence.  She is a hard working, conscientious and reliable student who strives daily to make a difference in her community and school.  According to her teacher, Mr. Martin, Emily “pursues community service and is a strong voice of leadership within the school.”  This is evident in her participation in the Environmental and Interact Club.  She exemplifies servant leadership, accepts challenges and possesses, says Mr. Martin, “the courage to shape the world around her.”

In addition to Environmental and Interact Club, Emily is also a member of the National Honor Society, JETS, National History Club and Cross Country Team.  She participates in Sr. Ethel’s Science Research in which she takes great joy in presenting and receiving feedback – indicative of Emily’s commitment to life-long learning.

Having completed the Governor’s Scholars Program this past summer, Emily was assigned to a meditation, awareness and relaxation class and fully intends to apply what she has learned.  Furthermore, she challenges everyone at NDA to take the time and effort and to savor each moment.  This time of reflection can help when so many students are feeling overwhelmed with work, sports, job, clubs and other activities. How else does Emily unwind and take time for herself?  Emily admits that it may surprise some people that she listens to rap music, but she believes in the “poetic quality and message of some rap artists and songs.”

Congratulations, Emily Bautista, on being named September’s Student of the Month!
