Congratulations to NDA’s Student of the Month

Notre Dame’s Michaela Terry is a true servant leader who exhibits kindness, compassion, and humility that has earned her the recognition of May’s Student of the Month.  Although Michaela, an NDA senior who plans to attend Northern Kentucky University in the fall, admits to being kind of shy, she is committed to helping others.  Mrs. Gronotte, Michaela’s Publications teacher for the past two years, observes Michaela’s “ability to work with others for the greater good of all.”  During her Publication classes, “Michaela guides the first year students and helps them accomplish their tasks,” – evidence that she is committed to helping others.

Michaela’s servant leadership extends beyond her Publications class. For the past two years, Michaela has assisted with the Panda Sleepover – a fun event organized for current 8th graders from both feeder and non-feeder schools.  Michaela also volunteers at the Urban Education Center, and she has done so for the past two years.  Michaela does take time off from volunteering at the Urban Education Center to play softball at Notre Dame Academy.  For the past four years, Michaela has been a softball Panda and has led the team as a captain for the past two years.  She currently plays shortstop for the team.

Michaela, who consistently joins Sister Reina in the chapel for daily Rosary, knows just how lucky she is. Having traveled to Haiti where her two adopted sisters grew up and to Peru with NDA’s mission group, Michaela sees just how fortunate she is and recognizes all that God has blessed her with.  For Michaela, her mother and sister Hannah are true blessings and role models, and they inspire her to reach out and to serve others.  Congratulations, Michaela on earning this recognition, and may you continue to be inspired beyond Notre Dame Academy.
