Drug Free Club will be accepting applications only for 14 more days, until October 31st!
If your parents have not signed you up yet, there is not much time left to do so! Applications are online at Drug Free, and paper copies are in the school office and the Quad.

Tomorrow during homeroom, SR will hear from Graduate Services in the Theater, JR will cover ACT information on the Spanish Stairs and SO will have their Admin meeting in the Gym. FR will go to their homerooms.

The University of Cincinnati will be here during the lunches on Friday.

Picture retake day is next Friday, October 25th. You can pick up an order form in the office.

Please check your email for a Google form sent to you by Ellie and Caroline, your class co-presidents. This form will help us in starting to plan Silver Bells, happening in December. The form will ask for theme suggestions and volunteers for those interested in helping plan this fun event. Please respond by the end of the school day on Thursday! The theme will be announced on Friday.

Anyone needing help in a subject with a peer tutor come down to 112 during Panda Prime time.

Tomorrow is the PSAT for sophomores and juniors. Please remember to go directly to your homerooms and bring your calculator, lunch and a #2 pencil that is not mechanical.

On Thursday, during the lunches, the University of Cincinnati will have their rep visiting. This is a great time to get answers to your questions.

The Honor Code t-shirt ordering deadline has been extended to this Friday. Please see your email for ordering information.

Tomorrow is an out of uniform day in support of After Prom. Don't forget your $3.

The weather is turning colder, so please remember that the following are approved as part of NDA's dress code:
Crew neck NDA sweatshirt, navy blue sweater, fleece or cardigan over polo shirt (all can be purchased through Schoolbelles)
Solid gray, black or navy blue leggings under skirts (leggings, sweatpants or athletic pants with designs are not approved) And lanyards!

Hey pandas!!!! Get ready for the annual Red Ribbon Week door decorating contest, sponsored by TLC. We encourage each homeroom to decorate their door showing the importance of being drug free. The homeroom with the best door gets a donut breakfast with second and third place getting bags of candy. Your homeroom can pick up your starter paper in the quad today during homeroom. Doors will be judged on Wednesday Oct. 30th. Happy Decorating!

There are several Seniors and Freshmen who do not have permission forms for this Wednesday's activities. Check your email for more information.

Freshmen - please be sure to check your emails with important information about where to go and what to bring with you on Wednesday.

Tomorrow is common reader day! School begins at 9:00, and you will report directly to your home rooms. Please check your adjusted schedule for details on the day's events. All students should wear their full uniform, bring their iPads and pack a lunch.

Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors - If you are interested in the field of Business or in owning your own company someday, come to the meeting after school on Thursday about KY Governor's School for Entrepreneurs, or GSE. GSE is a 3-week program next June 7-27 where selected students live on the campus of Northern Kentucky University immersed in a creative space developing a business idea for a pitch competition on the final day. The GSE Director and our NDA students who were selected for GSE last summer will also be there to answer questions. Contact Mrs. Hildreth with your questions.

Juniors and Seniors are asked to fill out the After Prom survey during homeroom today. We are moving After Prom to NKU's Student Rec Center and need your help planning for this great event!

Just a reminder that Wednesday is Common Reader Day and the adjusted schedule is available in the student bulletin. Thanks to the Common Reader Committee, led by Mrs. Price, who guided the planning for the day. We are very much looking forward to meeting Missy Jenkins Smith whose story we read about and William Coyle who co-authored the book.

SR and FR and parents are reminded to login to FinalForms to sign off on upcoming field trips.

An informational meeting about the Santo Domingo Mission trip this summer for Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors will be held on Tuesday evening at 7pm for interested students. The meeting will be in room 202. The meetings is to inform parents and students. Parents are encouraged to attend the meeting unless they did so on mini-night.

Due to a Priest Retreat this week - we will not be holding confessions on Tuesday or Mass on Thursday this week.

Final reminder that all students who park in our lot - will need to park across the street in the lower lot of the Garden's of Park Hills. We will have a shuttle to bring you across the street - please plan accordingly so that you are not late!

The 2019-2020 Application Launch & Artform Guidelines for the KY Governor's School for the Arts AND Registration for the Prep Workshops will be Posted Online this Friday October 4th! If you are planning on applying to GSA this year, it is strongly recommended that you sign up and attend a Prep Workshop!

On Monday, October 7th, Bellarmine University, Thomas More University, University of Alabama Tuscaloosa. and University of Southern California will be here. Visit with them to find out what is new. Some schools are offering free application for a week or so, or not requiring ACT scores unless you are applying for special scholarships. There are merit scholarships available just for applying. You need to talk to them about these things.

On Tuesday, October 8th, Miami University Oxford and the University of Louisville will be visiting. Juniors and Sophomores you need to ask about the schools summer programs for underclassmen. Some of these programs will when completed give you college credit. Seniors ask about their merit scholarships.

School will begin at 9:00am tomorrow. Students should check their email for the adjusted schedule. Freshmen and Sophomores must bring their iPads with them fully charged. Juniors need to bring #2 pencils and calculators for the ACT test. All students should pack a lunch for tomorrow.

The Grandparents' Mass is tomorrow afternoon, so athletes should put their bags on the Auditorium stage and not in the gym hallway.

The CLC will be closed before school tomorrow due to an event.

Any student that may need help in a subject area can come to Room 112 for Peer Tutoring.

Tryouts for bowling will be held tomorrow,  October 3rd, 5pm at Walt's Center Lanes and 
Friday, October 4th, 6p at Walt's Center Lanes. No experience necessary, come on out and have some fun!

Reminder students need to park at The Gardens this Friday.  There will be a bus to bring you to school.  Grandparents mass will start at 1:00  

There will be mass tomorrow morning at 7:20 in the chapel.  All are welcome to join us. 

Some dress code reminders: Remember your lanyards each and everyday. If brought to school, water bottles must be transparent. 
Common Reader Day is next Wednesday. Please see your email for additional information about the day.
Tomorrow and Friday are adjusted schedules. Check your weekly bulletin for exact class times. School dismisses at 2:00 tomorrow for conferences and begins at 9:00am on Friday.


Grandparents Day Mass is this Friday, Oct. 4th at 1:00 pm in the gym. On Friday we ask all students who park in our lot to please park at the Gardens of Park Hills in the lower lot. There will be a shuttle available. Please ask your grandparents to be here by 12:45 so that we can get them seated before we bring in the students.


On Monday during the lunches, the University of Dayton will be here. Stop by and visit. A number of schools are changing requirements so ask if UD has any changes you need to know.

Attention AP students: The AP Exam ordering deadline is being pushed back to Nov.1. Ms Burgei will come into AP classes in mid-October.

We hope to see lots of you at the Drug Free Club Free Movie night tomorrow, Friday Sept. 27. We will show the movie "The Sandlot" on the soccer field at 9:30pm, after Cov Cath's Football game. The movie is free; we will be selling snacks and drinks. Bring your own blanket! 

Tomorrow afternoon, we will all gather in the gym for a Naturalization Ceremony where we will witness applicants take the Oath of Allegiance and become citizens of the United States. The promotion of justice, peace and integrity of creation is an essential part of living the charism of our sponsors, the Sisters of Notre Dame and we are grateful for the opportunity to share in this experience.

In preparation for the Naturalization Ceremony tomorrow, students who park in the theatre lot need to park in the main lot spots 1-19. Athletes are also asked to put sport bags on the stage in the auditorium on Tuesday. The Gym entryway will need to remain clear for tomorrow's ceremony which will be held in the gym.

Students should check their bulletin for the adjusted schedule.

Freshman homeroom representative applications are due on Wednesday.

Please be aware there will be police training on the track Wednesday afternoon.

During the lunches on Thursday, the rep from Western Kentucky University will be here. There are a number of the seniors that have applied to WKU. Stop and visit with Mary Beth Childers

9-18-19 Announcements
Interested in earning a varsity letter?  Try out for the bowling team. 
Bowlers of all levels are welcome.  Don’t worry if you’ve never bowled before or don’t have equipment.  NDA can supply equipment (limited availability so first come, first served). You are welcome to attend a “meet and greet” practice – no commitment necessary (just an hour of free bowling to see if you are interested):
Day:  Monday September 23rd
Time:  7:00 – 8:45 pm
Where:  Walt’s Center Lanes (Newport, KY)

JETS first meeting will occur on Wednesday September 25th at 8 am!  All students are welcome!
On Friday we will have our fall sports pep rally, and the adjusted schedule can be found on the student bulletin.  You are encouraged to wear your Playing for a Purpose t-shirt/pink attire and other pink accessories (socks, headbands, earrings) with your uniform skirt to get ready for the volleyball game at Thomas More Friday night.  Some reminders for the game on Friday:

  • Tickets are only sold at the door and will sell out fast!  
  • Clothing must provide proper coverage.
  • Body paint and glitter (even if it's in your hair) are not permitted at the game
  • Minimal face paint is permitted as well as the tattoos

Food truck day is this Friday. If you did not receive your tickets during homeroom, you can pick up your tickets from the front office during a free period, lunch or after school today.

Academic Team is having their kickoff meeting tomorrow, September 17th, 3:15 to 3:45 in Room 205! Come and check it out and see what all the "buzz" is about. We would love to have you join us! There will be snacks!

Attention all students that are going on the Health Career Fair Field Trip tomorrow:

Juniors and Seniors who drive - AND are a 4-year member of Drug Free Club - AND who would like to park in the BEST SPOT IN THE LOT - give your name to Mrs. Cox or Mrs. McLeod in the Office! We will draw for this next Monday!

StuCo's Hawaiian Mixer is this Saturday from 8-11pm.

The Writing Lab officially opens tomorrow, Thursday, September 12, during Panda Prime Time. No appointment is needed. Just drop in to room 301 for help on a writing assignment for any class. National English Honor Society writing tutors and Mrs. Hothem will be there to work with you.

Sophomore through Senior Student Council Homeroom Reps and Grade Level Presidents have created homeroom and grade level GroupMe accounts. Student Council hopes this will be an effective means to communicate between homerooms and grade levels. Please remember that the homeroom and grade level GroupMe are an approved school communication tool. In addition:
Communication using the app should not occur during class or pose as a distraction during instructional periods; students should turn the notifications off
Cell phones are still off and away during the school day, so students cannot access the app using cell phones at school.
Content will be monitored by faculty to make sure the tool is being used appropriately.

Parent Mini-Night is this Wednesday evening. All parents are invited to attend, and students are asked to complete their parents' schedule for them. The schedule template has been emailed to all students. Students should make a copy and complete the schedule for their parents based on the Monday classes. Parents will need this copy when they come to school Wednesday evening.

On Thursday during the lunches, we are having a mini college fair. Denison University, Eastern Kentucky University, Transylvania University, University of Alabama Huntsville, and Winthrop University will be here. This is a great opportunity to get information about these schools. You can find out about admissions, deadlines, scholarships, and about what the school has to offer.

Want to check-out 10 colleges without even leaving NDA? The JET College Fair will be here next Tuesday after school in Alumnae Hall. This is open to all students. It will start at 3:15 and go until 4:30 pm. Stop in whenever you can! Some of the colleges that will be here include: St. Louis University, Spring Hill College, Xavier University, John Carroll University, Loyola Chicago, and Marquette University. See any of the counselors if you have questions!

Any student that wanted to participate in Teen Court and has NOT signed up in the Counseling Quad needs to do so by the end of the day. There are packets there for students to take to their first day of Teen court on September 10th at 6pm.

Remember picture day is tomorrow. Make sure to get your picture taken even if you are not ordering a package, so that you can get your new school id.
FR - JR don't forget your order forms if you will be purchasing pictures. Seniors do not order pictures on this day but are expected to take pictures for transcript purposes. Clothing should be tidy and appropriate and that of which provides proper coverage. Jeans with rips are permitted but also need to have proper coverage in exposed areas. Pants, shorts or jeans are appropriate as pictures are only head shots, and leggings are okay with a long top to provide appropriate cover. Teachers have been given the picture schedule, so you will report for pictures by class on Friday and your teachers will inform you of this tomorrow.

Club orientation information was emailed to all club and activity leaders yesterday. If you did not receive this information and feel you should have, please contact Mrs. Grayson. Club Orientation videos are due tomorrow as shared in the email.

Don't forget about the 20 question common reader assessment on Monday during homeroom.


Food truck orders are due next Monday. Check your email for the order form and take to the front office.

Club videos are due this Friday in preparation for Club Orientation next week. If doing a skit, you will be contacted about signing up for a preview.

This Friday is picture day. Be sure to bring your order form with you that day and give to the photographers.

Tomorrow we start the college reps visits. Please use this time to find out about their schools and scholarships, and make the reps feel welcome. Freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to check out information and find out the grades and test scores needed to get into the schools. Juniors and seniors need to take advantage of the opportunity of having the reps in our building to answer all their questions.
Tomorrow we have the rep from Depaul University. She will only be here for the first lunch.

Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors - if you have not set up your MobileServe Account yet or entered your grade level code when you signed up - you must do this by Friday. If you do not have an account created and linked to your class - then your hours from previous years will not be transferred over to Mobile Serve. At this point in time only 300 students have created their account. That means that not including Freshmen about 130 of you have either not created your account or you did not enter the code connecting you to NDA. Please make sure your account is set up by Friday.

Picture day is scheduled for next Friday, September 6. Order forms will be sent home this Friday. This will be an out of uniform day and dress code expectations will apply.

Club and Activity Registration forms are due this Friday.

Seniors your parent or guardian need to sign off on the Mass permissions for next Tuesday. This is in your FinalForms.
