Free Speech Essay Contest

Deadline: Nov. 25, 2012

Criteria:

· High School Junior or Senior

· Students must submit an essay between 800 and 1,000 words on the provided topic (see website below).

· Online application must be completed.

· Only the first 10,000 applications will be accepted. You are encouraged to apply early!

Award:

· One $10,000 Scholarship, one $5,000 Scholarship, and three $1,000 runner-up prizes will be awarded for best essays.

· Four $500 winners will be chosen from the remaining entrants in a drawing.

Free Speech Essay Contest

Fireside Essay Scholarship for 2013

Deadline: -Essays must be submitted to Ms. Burgei by 3:00 pm on November 30, 2012

Criteria:

· Seniors enrolled in a Catholic high school.

· Interested seniors write an essay on the topic: “How is your religious education influencing your life?” (750 word maximum)

· Only (1) essay per High School can be submitted to Fireside for this scholarship. Essays submitted to Ms. Burgei by 3:00 pm on November 30, 2012 will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of Notre Dame faculty. (Student names will not be viewed by selection committee.)

· Selection will be based on:

o Was the required word count followed?

o Does the essay strongly answer the prompt?

o Is the essay well-written (grammar, punctuation, etc.)?

· The committee will select one essay from Notre Dame to be submitted to Fireside.

Award:

· A total of five $1,000 cash scholarships are awarded.

AXA Achievement Scholarship in association with US News and World Report

Deadline: Dec. 1, 2012

Criteria:

· Online application must be completed.

· Only the first 10,000 applications will be accepted. You are encouraged to apply early!

Award:

· A winner in every state, Washington, DC and Puerto Rico

· Scholarships of $10,000 and $25,000

Carrington Dental Centre Scholarship Application

Deadline: Dec. 15, 2012

Criteria:

· Must be between the ages of 16-22

· Must answer the essay question on the sponsors website prior to deadline.

· Must have a parent/guardian submit the recommendation letter prior to the deadline.

· Must be enrolled in a college, university, trades, or technical school by no later than the Fall of 2013.

RMHC U.S. Scholarships

Deadline: Dec. 20, 2012

Criteria:

· Be a high school senior and younger than 21 years of age

· Be eligible to attend a 2 or 4-year college or university with a full course of study

· Be a legal US resident

· Submit a complete application and all required documentation by the deadline on the application.

· Meet any additional eligibility reequirements outlined by each scholarship program.

· Verification of enrollment each year at the student’s accredited post-secondary institution.

Anthony Munoz Scholarship

Deadline: Jan. 1, 2013

Criteria:

· Created by Anthony Munoz and his family, this scholarship exists to support Tri-State youth in achieving their dreams of attending a local college or university.

· Open to high school seniors.

Award:

· Scholarships up to $20,000 awarded to Senior finalists.
