Department Philosophy

The Theology Department of Notre Dame Academy assists young women in the development of their faith: seeing faith as a viable option, choosing faith that is real, and living a Gospel-based faith. Students study Catholic teaching and doctrine and are encouraged to use critical thinking, especially with regards to personal spiritual development and involvement in the world.

Department Learner Goals

  • Develop an understanding of Salvation History through a comprehensive study of Catholic Doctrine, Scriptures, Church History and Morality
  • Understanding that Christ's mission and salvation history continues in the divinely instituted Church; guided by the Holy Spirit
  • Engage in theological reflection and faith sharing
  • Grow in their awareness and respect for other cultures
