We are extremely happy to
introduce Dr. Laura Dickman Koehl, a 1975 NDA graduate, as the next principal
of Notre Dame Academy effective July 1, 2010! Her dedication to the mission of Notre Dame, her faith, studies,
and life experiences have equipped her to lead NDA well into the 21st
Century! Dr. Koehl was highly
recommended by the search committee that was facilitated by Sr. Pat Garrahan,
SND, director of the SND National Education Office. Dr. Koehl will be the first
lay principal in Notre Dame’s 106-year history.
When asked to take the position,
Dr. Koehl responded, “I am humbled and deeply grateful to have this opportunity
to carry on the tradition of academic excellence and community service that
have been so well established by the Sisters of Notre Dame. It is truly an honor to follow in the
footsteps of the many accomplished women who have led the Academy to excellence
throughout its history. I look
forward to working with our faculty and staff in educating young women to know
and share God’s goodness in the world.”
I am deeply grateful to Dr.
Koehl for accepting the responsibilities of principal and look forward to
working with her in the future. I am also grateful to the members of the search
committee and all who participated in the search process through the focus
sessions and/or participation in the on-line survey. From the experience of the
past few weeks, we know that our good and provident God continues to direct our
way. We can continue to trust in
God’s goodness as we move forward under the direction of Dr. Koehl.
