News From The President

The leadership at Notre Dame Academy has been staffed by the Sisters of Notre Dame since its’ beginning in 1906. Sister Elaine Marie and I are aware that we may be the last Sisters of Notre Dame to be in the president or principal role at NDA. We, along with the Board of Directors of Notre Dame Academy, recognized the need for succession planning. At the end of the 2009-2010 school year, Sr. Elaine Marie will leave her position as principal and a search for a new principal will begin in January 2010.

This will be the first formal search Notre Dame Academy has ever conducted for a principal. In the past, the principal was appointed by the Provincial of the Sisters of Notre Dame. The new principal will be hired by the president and approved by the Board of Directors. Sister Patricia Garrahan, SND, director of the SND National Education Office, has been asked to facilitate the search process.

Sister Elaine Marie will be completing her 15^th year in leadership at NDA in June and 29 years in school administration. We are grateful for all that Sister Elaine has brought to Notre Dame Academy during these years of dedicated service. Please join us in prayers of support and gratitude for Sister Elaine and for the guidance of the Holy Spirit on the search process.
